Pet Insurance: Really!

One A.M. in the morning and your prized pet has been attacked. What do you do?  Certainly not wait till later in the day.  Emergency care can not wait that long. Every second counts.

Veterinarians are available after hours in your local listings, however very few are available 24/7 for Emergency care. Considering there is no such thing as an Animal Emergency 911 line, your vehicle is the only medical care that your pet will receive on the way to medical attention.  When every moment is precious before getting care, don’t waste time rummaging through the phone book looking for emergency care, be prepared.

First things First

Emergency Care
The price for pet insurance is very affordable. Your cheapest or most cost efficient package is   Emergency Care.

Emergency Care Coverage can cover up to an $14,000 deductible in medical costs and expenses. Packages range from only
$10-$15 a month.

Full Coverage and complete medical care for your pet is equally affordable with a medical coverage deductible at roughly $14,000. Full coverage can cover the cost of medical emergencies, pre-existing or current medical conditions, as well as repeated care and surgery.  The price range is only between $15-$25/month.

When you shop for pet insurance, keep in mind your average medical treatment for emergency care and anti-biotics alone is in the price range of $500 for one emergency visit. So if you purchase the bare minimum care of $10/month for emergency care you will pay $120 annually, and save $480 on one emergency room catastrophe. That’s a phenomenal savings.

Purchase Pet Insurance; Check your Provider

Once you have purchased your pet insurance it is easy sailing from there. However, even though all or most licensed professions take pet coverage, do not take this notion for granted. Check to make sure your veterinarian accepts your coverage.  Ask your insurance provider for a full listing in the local area that accepts your package. Most importantly make sure your provider is one that is available after hours for emergency care. The average veterinarian is available after hours, so you may not have to change locations. Another reminder if you do not want to change Veterinarian's is make sure you have their after hours phone number. Also invest in looking for a 24 Hour Veterinarian Hospital.  If your region has one consider the 24 Hour Service for your pet.

Comfort is a key quality to being a smart pet owner. Make sure you have emergency room care coverage.  If you don’t have $14,000 out of pocket you may want to research an insurance provider that does.

I Don't know where to look for Pet Insurance

Places to look for Pet Insurance

Online:  Researching for pet coverage online is the best way to shop for insurance. Primary reason you have all the information you need online that your local listings, may or may not provide. Type in pet insurance on your search engine, and select a provider that is right for you.

Local Veterinarian:  Your local Veterinarian has information on pet insurance.  A lot of times they may or may not offer insurance at the time of your visit. Since you may or may not see the signs for coverage, don’t miss the opportunity to check out the opportunities for you and your pet yourself. Just type in Pet Insurance in the field.

After Buying Pet Insurance
Providers for emergency care can be as cheap as
$10 a month.  There are also plans that range from $15-25 a month.  That is nothing in comparison to the $500-2500 bill you may spend on your one time visit.  Do not forget the anti-biotic's,  prescriptions, follow-up care when you consider your insurance plan.   However, must importantly remember Emergency Room Care Insurance.

Remember to have your phone numbers prominently listed for all house members and visitors. Use the refrigerator as a local finding spot for your pets information.  Keep your pets card in your wallet, and keep a copy on file for people/or persons who take care of your pet. As always make sure your animal has his/her information on their tag. Make sure it is clean and secure. Check with your premium to see the specifics of coverage.

Points to remember:
  • Emergency care is only $10/month!
  • Full coverage is between $15-$25/month.
  • Do your research in reference to providers.
  • Keep your information updated/and available.

Check your Provider
Once you have purchased your pet insurance it is easy sailing from there. However, even though all or most licensed professions take pet coverage, do not take this notion for granted.

Check to make sure your veterinarian accepts your coverage.  Ask your insurance provider for a full listing in the local area that accepts your package. 24 Hour Service is the best care, however if your pet goes to a clinic that is open during specific business hours for their regular check-ups and exams, be specific and planned for all emergencies and events. Make sure you have emergency room care coverage and the coverage is accepted before hand.  If you don’t have $14,000 out of pocket you may want to research an insurance provider that does.

Discuss Emergency Care!  Don’t waste time.
Your Pet Needs an Ambulance. Every moment matters.  We do not have emergency vehicles every where, so casually see if you can become involved in a solution. Some locations are able to come to your home, be safe and do some research. Till then make sure you have pet insurance.
